Korean Learning Journey

I tried to start learning Korean in early 2022 by myself but the app that I tried to learn with was very annoying to work with so I stopped for a bit. I picked up Korean a little bit later but at that time I was also trying to learn Latin in my free time and since I had more of an interest in learning Latin I stopped. I really only know about three words in Korean and I can't even remember them right now so that's why I haven't placed myself on any level.

Edit: Might be starting Korean (the southern version) at some point in this year (2024)

Edit: I have NOT started learning this language °~° I probably won't be learning about this language for a while. Spring 2025)

Russian Learning Journey

I have started to learn Russian in late 2023 but right now I haven't made much of any progress. I can read and hear some words like "thank you" or "no" but I couldn't form, speak, or read, a single sentence. This is why I haven't placed myself at any level.

Edit: I have started to make real progress and am starting with the alphabet, if I'm being honest it looks a bit hard but not impossible. I'm also learning about the question words and I didn't include this in the other "paragraph' above this but I have been listening to Russian music since the beginning of 2023 and things are (somewhat?) starting to make sense in regards to word order. (This has nothing to do with Russian language learning but I love when words with the hard "r" sound are pronounced in Russian! They sound so spikey to me.)

Edit: I have now learned, (or more so learned a bit ago but didn't update), that the correct word is "harsh" not "spikey" (i'm not autocorrecting that >:]). Also I can now speak actual russian words and not just guess (whenever i saw the word Привет i always thought that it was pronounced nim-pit, now i realize that it's pronounced pri-vet and that you have to hold/make the r harsher). Also, also, I can (kinda) read the alphabet with its literal letter sound and the letters names!! (going to change the language level at some point today or tomorrow)

Edit: Changed the language level a bit more than just one tomorrow, but... I still changed it!

Edit: Probably going to learn this language more in the summer (2024)

Edit: That was a lie lol (it's now 2025 and almost spring)

In Regards to the War Between Ukraine and Russia

If you haven't seen or heard the news for a year this might come as a surprise "What! Ukraine and Russia are at war!? Why didn't anyone tell me about this!?" Yep, they're both at an unofficial war (because Putin, the Russian president, didn't want to do a formal declaration of war to reduce to likelihood of outside forces like NATO or other countries from joining the war), well to Russia in official documents it's an "unofficial war" but to Ukraine it's a very official war. Anyways, many language learners of the Russian language just like myself are wondering, should I continue learning this language when the country that currently speaks this language and created this language has started a war out of pure greed and has killed/harmed millions of people? For many people there are different answers to this question, maybe you should, maybe you shouldn't. I personally will still continue to learn this language as just because it is connected to a very horrible president that is very morally corrupt doesn't mean the language is inherently evil. Many Russian citizens that are able to get news outside of Russia are unsupportive of the war and believe that the Russian government is in the wrong for tricking innocent soldiers/civilians into participating in this war. Plus knowing the Russian language can be helpful if you're able to get into spaces online that are dominated by Russian people that are unaware of what the Russian government is doing. This war is not the result of the Russian language or people but of the corrupt higher ups in the Russian government that wish for more land as that equals more power. If you would like to show support for Ukraine in any way then these websites will show you some great ways to do so, but even spreading more awareness to people about the war is good, too. Ukraine will survive and win this war and the Russian citizens will learn the truth soon! Слава Україні! Slava ukraine!
